  About difference of “what I am” and “as I am”

  As following sentences, can I replace “what S V” with “as S V”, or “as S V” with “what S V”, respectively?
  If they can not be replaced, why is it?

  1.His efforts in his youth made him what he is.

  2.What she is is completing different from what she is ten years ago.

  3. They are content with things as they are.
